The calendar changed to November just in case you need a reminder in the middle of our 90-degree days!  Buddy and I certainly liked the morning walk in the 40’s earlier this week.

With the calendar change, there are 52 shopping days till Christmas and 39 shopping days till Hanukah.  The retailers are excited, the FedX and UPS delivery guys are preparing for the crush of deliveries and you might be wondering how did this happen so quickly?

I have two ways to make your holidays enjoyable and save you money at the same time.  As a bonus, you include the gift of giving in addition to saving money!

  1. Take Action Today – This is only good until Sunday, November 5, 2017. Go out and get a Partners Card.  Partners Card is the signature fundraiser for The Family Place, Dallas’ largest domestic violence agency. 100% of your Partners Card purchase goes directly to supporting survivors of family violence.  You purchase a “Partners Card” for $70 the entire $70 goes to the Family Place.  You get the tax savings on the contribution.

Then the real opportunity for savings begins.  Would you like to save 20% on your Christmas and Hanukah shopping?  There are over 750 stores in the Dallas/Ft Worth area that give you 20% off with a Partner’s Card.  Get busy this expires Sunday night.

  1. After all your shopping and savings with your Partner’s Card, those closets need some attention. I want you to try out a rule that Tina and I have in place.  If it is hanging in the closet and it has not been worn in the last twelve months, then it needs to be given to someone who can use it better than we can.    Gather up all those opportunities for others and take them to the charity of your choice.   Make sure you list out what you donate and get a receipt for tax time.  Work with your CPA to determine the value of your donation for tax savings.

Two that are our favorites for the work they perform in Dallas and Collin County are:

Dress for Success Dallas- Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures.

Hope’s Door New Beginning Center  Resale Stores – The mission of Hope’s Door is to offer intervention and prevention services to individuals and families affected by intimate partner and family violence

Simple steps are the foundation for financial success and giving is step four of The Financial Olympian™ Creed.  Giving is a learned experience and cleaning out the closets is an opportunity to involve the entire family.

Have a great weekend.
