Oh, the Summers You’ll Remember

As tassels turn and school bells ring for the last time this year, we all feel that special shift in the air.

Memorial Day weekend beckons us into summer, that magical season when time stretches like an open road, calling us to adventure, connection, and memory-making.

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is why we can enjoy the freedoms, opportunities, and moments, big and small, that make life so rich. This weekend, we hope you can reflect, rest, and spend time with the people who matter most.

Dr. Seuss told us, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

But have you ever stopped to think: How many more summers like this do I have?

Not just in terms of trips or vacations, but those golden, wide-open summers with your kids still under your roof… the summers where grandparents can join in the fun… the summers when your body, time, and finances are aligned enough to say yes to experiences.

Let’s pause there.

Count the Summers

If your child is 10, you have just 8 summers left before high school graduation.

If you’re 50, you may have 30 summers left with your current energy and health.

If your parents are 75, how many more summers will they have?

It’s not meant to be somber, it’s meant to be clarifying.

Summer is when we make memories. It’s the season of fireflies, road trips, backyard barbecues, and big conversations. It’s when we finally have time to exhale and ask ourselves:

Am I living the life I imagined for myself?

Living with Intention

At Tannery Company, we believe in living life with purpose, both financially and personally. We ask our clients what financial independence looks like to them and what they want their days to feel like. That starts now, not someday.

So, this weekend as you kick off summer, I encourage you to take a moment:

  • Make a summer bucket list
  • Plan something spontaneous
  • Say yes to the messy, magical moments
  • Revisit your financial plan to see if it supports the living that builds memories

And if it doesn’t, let’s talk. Because we can change that.

You’ve got brains in your head. You’ve got vision in your heart. You’ve got people worth spending real, precious, intentional time with.

Let this be the summer you step into that.

Happy Memorial Day,

The Tannery Team
