We see the disruption in social media as claims of fact are often nothing more than a fake story or an alteration of the facts to fit the narrative of the person making the post.
However, the authenticity of the poster gives credence to the post and the “Fake News” takes on a whole new life of its own. Just ask CNN, FOX News, The New York Times or any other news outlet that has had to “make a retraction”
Yes, “The Cupcake Generation” the latest generation following the Baby Boomers. They all grew up with the idea that “everyone gets a cupcake”. Adversity and challenge breed character and attributes like fortitude but when you get a medal for showing up and generous compliment and encouragement, it is not unimaginable to see how that leads to self-entitlement. We have gone from generations that broadly lacked self-esteem to ones that operate with an over-supply of self-esteem.
The automatic graduate from high-school and go to college approach has become stale and unproductive for a large portion of students. Today life after high school needs to include the importance of gap years, bridge programs, on-the-job training, internships and attending community college before attending college.

There is no magical pill that you can take to solve this problem and it is not the medical community’s responsibility.

Today, roughly 10,000 Boomers exit the workforce every day, which should present an opportunity in and of itself for Millennials to backfill the depleting workforce. Census data tell a different story. In 2016, median personal income for workers aged 24 to 34 was $35,000. In modern dollar terms, that same age cohort was earning $37,000 in 1975.
