Labor Day Reads

It is the last of the official three-day weekends of the year. I count five if you are wondering: MLK Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Labor Day. Every now and then we get the others when the holiday just happens to fall on a Friday or Monday.

As most of you probably know our office will be closed on Monday. We will be back on Tuesday, September 3 at 8:00 AM.

Last week I attended the IFG National Conference and had the opportunity to hear three outstanding and different speakers. I am always inspired by the stories of others and would encourage you to add these books to your reading list.

Shawn Achor – Author of The Happiness Factor and a leading expert on the connection between happiness and success.

Kelly McDonald – Her presentation on diversity in today’s workforce was eye-opening. I would encourage you to read: How to Work With and Lead People not Like You.

Bert Jacob – The co-founder of the Life is Good Company. His story of how he and his brother came to create their company and then create the Life is Good Foundation was inspiring and convincing. You will want to read Life is Good: The Book which tells the story of the ten key “superpowers” accessible to us all: openness, courage, simplicity, humor, gratitude, fun, compassion, creativity, authenticity, and love.

With Summer ending, we all must look ahead. Just because I know you want to know:

It is:

24 Days until the Texas State Fair
34 Days till Dallas Stars opening game
62 Days till Halloween
90 Days until Thanksgiving
117 Days until Christmas

Enjoy your weekend and the start of College Football
