Make an Impact

America’s 240th Independence Day will be celebrated on Monday, July 4, 2016. Please celebrate safely with friends and family. The Tannery Company Team will be celebrating and will return to the office on Tuesday, July 5th at 8:00 AM.

This past Wednesday at Executive Toastmasters, Mark Siegel gave the week’s inspiration. With his permission, I have incorporated into this week’s blog. Thanks Mark!

While you are busy celebrating the 4th of July or just taking some time for yourself and your family over the long holiday weekend, I would like for you to take a simple quiz. The rules are easy, answer the questions below taking no more than a few seconds on each question. Be truthful and no using Google!

The QUIZ – Part 1

  1. Name the last three years’ winner of the Oscar for best picture.
  2. Name the last three Heisman trophy winners.
  3. Name the winner of the 2016 Grammy Awards for Best Album.
  4. Name the last three years’ winners of the NFL and World Series MVP?
  5. Name the last three years’ NCAA Football Champions.

All of these events have millions of viewers and parties to watch and enjoy them. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers; they are the best in their fields at that moment.

The QUIZ – Part 2

  1. Name three teachers who aided your journey through school.
  2. Name three friends who have aided you in difficult times.
  3. Think of three people who you enjoy spending time with.
  4. Name a mentor or a boss the impacted your career.
  5. Name a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

I anticipate that this part of the quiz was much easier to answer. People who impact our lives are very rarely forgotten and often sought out in times of personal turbulence. For all Americans, the 56 brave men who signed the Declaration of Independence impacted our lives and all Americans forever.

I want to say “Thank You” for the opportunity that you have given The Tannery Team to be a part of your life.

We are grateful.

Happy 4th of July

    Total Disconnect Three Day Weekend

Labor Day was originally a day organized by the unions to honor the American labor movement. Now, 129 years later, Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend and it is considered the unofficial end of summer.

Long weekends have turned into vacation weekends or travel weekends. If you are a select soccer or volleyball parent, these have become weekends full of tournaments and travel. What if we proposed this weekend to be “Total Disconnect Weekend”?

    Is College Still Worth It?

    Just two weeks.

That is all you have left until they leave. You have thought about this for 18 years. Sending your son or daughter to college. You saved and planned for the cost and now the day has come when it is time to walk back to the car and make the drive home after moving them into the beginning of their next step in life.

No, they will not be there magically as if it was a dream when you get home.

This begins a step towards their future life and it is time to let them go.
