Nothing is Bigger than Big Tex

Nothing is Bigger than Big Tex

The State Fair of Texas opened its gates for the first time on October 26, 1886.  Today the gates swing open at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 27 for the 2019 State Fair of Texas and have a twenty-four-day run until October 20, 2019.

Whether you go every year or have never gone, let me give you FIVE reasons why you should go on opening day.

It is Opening Day.  It is like opening day for the Texas Rangers there is pomp and circumstance and it feels all new again.  Even better, on opening day you can get a State Fair of Texas OPENING DAY pin.  They are fun to get and wear as a memory of being at the opening day

Freedom Day

Freedom Day

I have been working on this for two years.

Two weeks ago, we “cut the cord”!

This past month we finally had enough after receiving our cable bill that again crept up to nearly $200 per month from our local cable provider which was littered with equipment, taxes, and random unexplained charges and taxes on taxes.

For years the cable companies operated like the monopolies that earned them that moniker, yet every year we would call into the service line playing as good of an Oscar role as we could muster to bluff like we were calling in to cancel. Tina’s Finish Line

Tina’s Finish Line

Good morning everyone – it’s Tina.

As you are reading this, I am completing my last radiation treatment.

Join me and let’s go back to the beginning.

When I started this journey on March 4, I joked about a quick weight loss and not having to shave my legs.  Little did I know that I would be blessed with so much more.

Labor Day Reads

Labor Day Reads

It is the last of the official three-day weekends of the year.  I count five if you are wondering:  MLK Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Every now and then we get the others when the holiday just happens to fall on a Friday or Monday.

As most of you probably know our office will be closed on Monday.  We will be back on Tuesday, September 3 at 8:00 AM.

Last week I attended the IFG National Conference and had the opportunity to hear three outstanding and different speakers.   I am always inspired by the stories of others and would encourage you to add these books to your reading list.

San Diego, Summer, and Radiation

San Diego, Summer, and Radiation

Good morning from sunny San Diego!

I am attending the Independent Financial Group National Conference this Wednesday through Saturday.   It is a great time to reconnect with fellow advisors and Industry leaders and also enjoy cool and sunny San Diego.

The things you must think about if you are in San Diego in August.  Such as, do I need a sweater?

Seriously, I realize that the weather in DFW is normal hot August and I will be right back in it with you later this weekend. Next weekend is Labor Day and the unofficial final weekend to Summer.
